Alright, now that i have everyone's attention, there's been a lot of questions as to what motivated me to start firing shots at the music community in MTL. I'll start by saying that it has a lot to do with my own regret for the time I wasted in my own music endeavours. Growing up in this city full of talent and standing idly by while people make shotty decisions when releasing products that represent the city we live in.
As most of you know my group Northern Lights (NL5) has been involved in one way or another in Montreal's hip hop scene for about a decade. As i'm growing into my age I've had time to reflect and as much as I/We haven't done more musically, I/We have never put out material or songs that didn't live up to the standard of quality we hold in esteem. Over the last few years, a few unforeseeable events have rattled the industry in our city. The great loses we've suffered over the last while, BadNews Brown & Matt Dutch Garner, Dave "Shame" Lockhart, have impacted me to make this statement.
Just cause you have access to a studio doesn't mean you can spit.. just cause you can bang on a keyboard DOESN'T mean you can make beats... So here's where the air is gonna get thick.. People are rushing me to make my point brief and name names, when over the course of time I've realised that you can't rush anything you want to do right... So here's the preface/intro to the "shots fired". . . I'm going to do what's right and what's wrong in the eyes of certain ppl.. Your opinions are your opinions.. what will follow in the next few days IS MY OPINION.
I WILL name names.. (not snitching.. so keep that sideways shit out of this conversation) I'm putting the scene on Blast .. .. take that how you want... I'll have finished watching enough SHIT videos by Friday to give you the short version in great detail about who should COMPLETELY STOP MAKING MUSIC and who needs to improve, re-evaluate, go back to the drawing board.... Certain ppl will be left out of the rant due to the fact they are not able to defend themselves.. I'll get to that too.. just bare with me. FRIDAY people..
